I suppose I’m grateful for having off on a Saturday afternoon, because I’m watching the Yankees game, probably about to witness Derek Jeter get his 3,000th hit. I’ve mentioned a trillion times that I’m a Mets fan, but before that, I’m a NY fan, and I can appreciate what’s happening here. He’ll be the first Yankee to ever hit this mark, and it could be a while before anybody else does. I suspect every sports bar in the tri state area will be going crazy tonight if it happens. Too bad Tampa Bay wouldn’t allow for a double header today, but they had the right to decline and opted to make up for the rainout on an off day in September. Good luck #2, all real baseball fans are rooting for you!!

It looks like the east coast is dominating the lineup for both leagues, so I’m excited to watch this game and pray for a National League victory. A lot of top players are on the DL, which makes for an interesting situation for both sides.
[Here's my Mets rant.] With Reyes and Wright both out, the Mets have certainly proved that they are a team built of more than a few big names. Jason Bay, Mike Pelfrey, and Dillion Gee have been kicking some serious butt and giving their team the ego boost and stat improvements they’ve been needing. We might have seen the best of Wright, but I would be very upset, physically ill, and I might just go postal if a Reyes trade ever happened. Luckily he’s only on the 15-day DL, and he’s leading the league in pretty much everything, so NY would be dumb to get rid of their best player.
Well that’s that for now, gotta keep my eyes glued to the tv because Jeter is on deck with 2,999 hits under his belt.
SEE YA!
